Research Project: Belgian online media and Web 2.0
Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 17:45 I just started a new research project with regards to Belgian media sites and their use of web 2.0 features. This project has been inspired by the work a US company called The Bivings Group has been doing in the US.
After the publication of their report, several bloggers from around the world did exactly the same: they checked off web 2.0 features against the sites of their country's most important main stream media. I want to do the same for Belgium.
To do so I created a public Wetpaint wiki called "Belgian Newspapers & Web 2.0". There you will be able to follow what I am doing, but you will also be able to contribute if you wish. Every web 2.0 feature we're looking for is listed on the wiki and I am currently writing down the online sites I want to check.
Since we have many national newspapers in different languages with online versions of their publications I can really appreciate some help. Results will be published on the wiki, on this blog and will be taken up by The Bivings Group.
This all started thanks to the great work of Mark Glazer over at MediaShift who covered the initial story.
Philippe Borremans
De Standaard is leading the pack in the Flemish newspaper section when it comes to Web 2.0 features; they have blogs, podcast, RSS feeds etc...
The project is looking good and I have some help from anonymous wiki editors... Hey, let me know who you are so I can thank you publicly !
You can still input your findings in the "Belgian Newspapers & Web 2.0" public wiki.
