From blogger's ban in India to online protest in 3 days.
Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 13:43 The Indian government is blocking all Blogger.com, Typepad.com and Yahoo!'s Geocities blogs.
It all started with this blogpost on July 15 by Mridula Dwivedi, a teacher of management studies in Gurgaon India, when she asked what was up with Blogger.com sites...
Yesterday - the 17th, I got a message from Gautham Gosh through the LinkedinBloggers Group, telling the same story but pointing to other online press coverage on the subject.
Today - the 18th, I received a link through the same group but this time from François Gossieaux to an online campaign wiki called "Bloggers Against Censorship". The wiki lists protests from bloggers around the world and also lists all media coverage on the issue.
Shows how "new media" and especially blogs linking to each other and the use of wikis to collect feedback, petitions and other information are changing the landscape.
Imagine the same scenario, let's say 15 years ago without easy and free access to wikis and blogging platforms. Some major media wouldn't even have covered this.
The image to the left is the graph from Blogpulse on the topic. You can subscribe to the RSS feed to follow this story and there is a good Q&A on the topic here.
I will also track this story on the PR Blogger's Portal.
