Trends in the newsroom and "under pressure".

Sans%20titre-3_1.jpgThe World Editors Forum has published a lengthy report entitled "Trends in the Newsroom" which elaborates on the future of newspapers.

Should make for an interesting read when you look at the topics it covers (the report can be downloaded for 139€):

  • Is the Future of Print Online?
  • Will all news be free?
  • Welcoming citizen journalists

  • Reconnecting with communities

  • News agencies vs. newspapers

  • Internet companies vs. newspapers

  • Broadband transforming journalism

  • Press credibility crisis deepens

  • New jobs for editors

  • Conclusion: The Newspaper: What now?

The organization also has a very interesting weblog called... well yes, Editorsweblog. One of the posts that I liked was about speed versus accuracy, written by John Burk. A problem that also exists in PR offices around the world. Do we get the facts straight or do we need to be first ?

Talking about the Newspaper industry, the Moscow Times reports that the World Newspaper Association will convene this year in the capital of Russia. Will this play into the cards of Puting or will it put pressure on the regime to respect freedom of the press more than they do now ?
