2 Golden tips for PR people.

This is why I love blogs and new media; just check your RSS feeds and you discover 2 tips you can use in your daily work (if you're in PR)...

PR Squared talks about the new way of pitching a story to a reporter and Dave Taylor at Intuitive Systems give the most obvious tip on business cards for PR people... but which no one uses.

businesscardfinal.gifTrue, I worked 4 years in PR agency and never had my clients listed on my business card although I worked for the same clients all along... It goes without saying in fact; clients come first so at least they should be mentioned on the PR Consultant's business card. A reporter wants to know who you represent, not necessarily for which agency you work for.

Preparing a pitch with del.icio.us, a great idea. Gather all relevant info on a story idea and then start pitching. You are not coming empty handed - or pitch only - to a reporter, you immediately offer him a feel for the subject and a good view on background info from across the web.

This approach serves not only the reporter but also the PRo... It gives you a kind of monitoring dashboard before running with a story. I know most of us in the PR industry are not using these techniques yet but as Todd Defren from Shift writes; it is not because it is new that it's bad... Hear, hear...!
