Only 7% of Marketeers surveyed use blogs.
Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 09:09 A recent survey by ad-tech London, the UK's interactive marketing event organizer, finds that only 7% of marketeers surveyed use blogs in their online marketing campaigns. In contrast, 13% have used mobile tactics to get their message across.
One of the major obstacles according to these online marketeers is that they need more training to understand the new possibilities the web offers.
I love the quote from Christophe Asselin, ad:tech marketing manager:
"It should never be assumed that technology is just simply adopted. It isn't. "Straightforward education and information, keeping it simple and avoiding techno jargon are what marketers need in order to feel more confident in adopting different online marketing tools and passing this on to their marketing teams in order for their companies to achieve greater benefits from their efforts."
Correct on all points I would add... same goes for professional communicators. Education is key and still very much needed. And it is not because a technology is free or cheap and easy to use that it will be clear to services professionals how they need or can integrate it in their day to day work.

On a less flipant note, how many PR people blog or use blogs?
