News in 2005: 6 minutes for Congo, 2 for Chechnya
Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 15:56 MSF (Medecins Sans Frontieres)
reports on the top 10 under-reported stories of 2005. War/conflicts in Chechnya, Congo, Haiti and other "less
important" countries have not been covered by major media in comparison with the
war in Iraq or the Tsunami disaster.
Below a view on mentions of these countries in
the blogopshere through Blogpulse.

For example; on the three major U.S. television
networks' nightly newscasts for 2005, only six minutes were devoted
to Congo and two minutes to Chechnya. The AIDS crisis received only 14
minutes of coverage...
"Millions of people are struggling through crises
in places that rarely, if ever, get mentioned in the U.S. news, and in our
experience, silence is the best ally of injustice." according to Nicolas de
Torrente, Executive Director of MSF in the United States.
