80% of companies not prepared for pandemic flu.

Basex, a company specialized in research on what they call "Collaborative Business Environments" just released the finding of a survey on how companies prepare for pandemic crisis. Their research just showed that 80% of the companies worldwide do not prepare and have no plans in place at this time. This while the security level for pandemic flu is 3 on a scale of 6 and when humans have already died of the disease.

The thing with this kind of pandemic is that people will not move around. Once the risk of contamination becomes real companies and organizations will have to allow their employees to work from home or simply stay at home. Next to the human catastrophe this will have a huge impact on businesses and life in general.
Technology can help in some ways here; remote access to an intranet/corporate internal blog would already help a lot of companies. And of course RSS/SMS notification of employees as discussed before. Simple masks and gloves can protect everyone but in this case it is the immobility of people which will be a huge issue...
