Ajax web translation tool.

Just discovered this great tool called AjaxTrans, a free online web translator. The tool, created by a certain Joel Parish translates immediately as you type and does it very well. Just tried a couple of phrases from English to French (which I speak and write both very well I think) and the results are not the usual gibberish you would get but rather well constructed phrases that any Frenchman would understand.

Here's an example: "The words should be automatically translated into the language of your choice and appear in the bluish box."

Translates into: "Les mots devraient être automatiquement traduits en langue de votre choix et apparaître dans la boîte bleuâtre." (the use of bleuâtre here is very correct, much better than "bleu".)

Now of course this is not a professional translation tool but it works well for some basic text translation on the go. Thanks to The Travel PR Blog.

It's good to see a polyglot putting it to the test :-) I loved the theory. Now it's good to know it works so well.

Hi Neil,

Well, it has now been "tested" by 2 bi-linguals (Damien & myself) and we both agree that it does a better job than other tools out there. But then again, I wouldn't use the translations "as is" to professionally translate my business blog... Thanks for the comment.
